John is a Fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, and was a Council member of the CIOT for twelve years.

John has a business tax background and joined Smith & Williamson in 1983. He was a Partner and Head of VAT for over 30 years, advising on all aspects of VAT, but specialising particularly in property transactions and international VAT.

John has advised on many high profile property developments in London. For over 15 years he led the Nexia International VAT Group, and was on the Nexia Tax Committee.

John joined Aventus in March 2022 and continues to advise on a wide range of VAT issues.
